I had PET Scan on Monday and got the results today. Since some of you watch my videos and know me a little. (I have been in this community a few months now) I thought I would let everyone know what the results are and what will probably be happening going forwards.
For those who don't know, a PET Scan uses a special radioactive dye that attaches itself to the high levels of sugar used by cancerous cells and then they use a CT Scan to locate and map out the cancerous cells. (It takes about 30 minutes of scanning.) When you do this, you are considered radioactive for 6-8 hours after the procedure and have to stay out of public, and away from children and small animals.
My Oncologist said we will continue the treatment to kill off the Hodgkin's Lymphoma then, if the hot spot in my tongue base is still there, they will do a biopsy on it to see if they can determine exactly what is going on with it. If they can determine that, they can probably come up with a treatment for it. The problem is, after the first attempt to send the Lymphoma into remission failed to kill off that hot spot, they did a biopsy and didn't find any cancerous cells. I am not sure if the Chemotherapy had killed off the cells in the area the biopsy was done in or he (the surgeon) didn't get deep enough and missed any cancerous cells.
I'm not sure what they will find and I'm not sure they have any idea what the biopsy will show. The main thing on my mind about it is that it was all caused by the Epstein-Barr Virus. The virus mutates the B-Cells in your Lymphatic system. Considering that it was running rampant in my throat area from February 22 until I started Chemotherapy the first time in late August of 2023, The virus had a LONG time to mutate the cells in whatever ways the Mutation decided to take. the EBV virus can cause regular Lymphatic cancer, a very long list of B-Cell lymphomas and, Mono Disease. Its been a year since I looked into it but don't remember anywhere that it says it could cause Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
My take on all of what I was told is that they will be able to get rid of the current iteration of Lymphoma (a rare type of Hodgkin's Lymphoma) but probably won't get rid of the "Hot Spot" in the base of my tongue. They are not sure what is there and will wait until the current Chemotherapy treatments kills off the Hodgkin's Lymphoma to proceed with more testing and possible treatments. Considering the ONLY area of any cancerous cells found after the First series of Chemotherapy was that (much reduced at the time) Hot Spot at the base of my tongue, I am thinking it caused the latest round of Lymphoma. It only took 4 months for it to grow to the point of being painful enough in my throat to stop me from creating content and 5 months to cause the Hodgkin's lymphoma to go to Late Stage 2 cancer. What ever it is and what's happening isn't normal and I am hoping the doctors can figure it out once my current treatments are finished.
